Prime Minister met with Civil Servants

The Prime Minister, Rui Maria de Araújo, had a third meeting with heads of the Public Administration, where he spoke about the challenges and opportunities that the public administration in Timor-Leste will face during the coming election periods.

This meeting was held in the Meeting Room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and was attended by 90 General and National Directors, including the President and 14 members of the Civil Service Commission. This meeting took place on February 9th, 2017.

The Prime Minister reminded the General and National Directors of the importance of their support in achieving good results with the Government Programme and the objectives of the National Development Plan from 2011 to 2030.

The Coordinator of the Social Audit of the Office of the Prime Minister, Edio Guterres, gave a presentation on the role of the Social Audit in the context of open government. Jorginha Martins, Legal Expert of the Prime Minister’s Office, also made a presentation on the administrative procedure and the right to access public documents.

The participants also received information on the outcome of the survey and on the public perception regarding the provision of State services.

The Prime Minister reminded the General and National Directors of the importance of the Civil Service to comply with the rules in force, in particular during the election period, and to ensure that State assets – namely, mobile phones, computers and vehicles, including motorcycles – are not used to support individual activities or political parties.
