Prime Minister takes part the opening of Tour de Timor 2016

The Prime Minister, Rui Maria de Araújo, took part in the opening of the Tour de Timor 2016, starting at the Avenida Marginal, at the Government Palace, between Dili and Manatuto, on September 13th, 2016. The Head of Government also took part in this event, with his bike with number 94, accompanied by national and foreign cyclists, in route to Lahane, hamlet of Maribia, in Dili.

The cyclists came from 18 nations, including Timor-Leste, for a 450 kilometres competition, which goes from Dili to Remexio, passing through Laclo, Manatuto, Quelicai, Iliomar, Lospalos and finishing in the city of Baucau, on the 17th of this month.

In his message, the Prime Minister welcomed foreign cyclists and expressed wishes for success to all cyclists.

The Head of Government pointed out that the Tour de Timor is a healthy activity and wished that cyclists, especially foreigners, could take time to get to know the beautiful landscape of Timor-Leste and the culture of the Timorese people, who will be at their arrival at each stage.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by the President of the National Parliament, Adérito Hugo da Costa, and the Secretary of State for Youth and Sports, Leovigildo Hornai.
