On October 7th, 2016, the Vice Minister of Health, Ana Isabel Soares, inaugurated 18 health centres, a Health Centre and a residence for health personnel in buildings that have been rehabilitated between 2014 and 2015 in the Municipality of Aileu. In his speech, the Vice Minister stressed that the rehabilitation of this equipment had the support of other institutions such as the Ministry of State Administration, the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communications and also the Ministry of Planning and Strategic Investment, through the National Development Agency: “the inaugurated works are from the community. So I ask everyone to take good care of the equipment, so it can last and be used to improve health.”
The Vice Minister also thanked the good cooperation of the relevant Ministries, development partners in the area of health, private clinics and local authorities, which make it possible to provide a quality service to the entire community, even in the remote areas: “The Ministry of Health continues to support the Family health programmes, the Mobile Clinic and others to meet the needs of those who do not yet have health equipment. But now, with these new facilities we hope that in the future we will be able to boost the quality of work in the community and to contribute to the reduction of morbidity (percentage of cases of disease in a population) and mortality (percentage of deaths in a population ).”
For his part, the Administrator of the Municipality of Aileu, João Tilman do Rego, stated that health services have been devolved on the Municipality, and the Ministry will assist them, to enhance cooperation and to provide a more adequate healthcare to the community.
The Administrator of the Municipality of Aileu, the Commander of the PNTL, the Health Officer and his team, as well as all local authorities of the Municipality of Aileu attended this inauguration.
