World Music Day (“Fête de la Musique”) in Dili

The third edition of “Fête de la Musique” (Music Festival) in Timor-Leste will take place on Saturday, June 18th, in the Largo de Lecidere, from 16h00 onwards.
This year, the festival will expand to bars located on Avenida de Portugal (Praia dos Coqueiros): Pirates Lair, Castaway, Dili Beach Hotel, Nautilus and Esplanada.

In the first edition, in 2014, it brought together 1.000 people and, in 2015, 5.000 and television transmission by RTTL. Over 25 performances of different musical styles are expected, ranging from jazz to reggae, passing through the blues, rap, rock and traditional sounds of Timor-Leste. Klamar, Sin2P, C’est Extra (French band) and many other musical groups are part of the Festival’s programme.

The Music Festival is part of a concept of festival launched in France, in 1982. It coincides with the first day of summer in Europe (June 21st) and is currently recreated in more than 120 countries.

In Timor-Leste, the event is organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and by the European Union, in conjunction with the services of the National Authorizing Officer, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, and the French Institute in Timor-Leste. It has National Insurance Timor-Leste’s (NITL) sponsorship, among others.
