The Refinery and Oil Services Unit of the national oil company TIMOR GAP opened its first fuel filling station on the south coast – in the suco of Camenaça, in the Municipality of Covalima – on April 29th, 2016.
The fuel station of TIMOR GAP is located next to Suai’s airport and has 14 local employees who received training from the energy Indonesian company Pertamina in Surabaya. The National Petroleum and Mineral Authority (NPMA) approved the design and location and the infrastructure meets all international requirements.
This is an important milestone for the National Oil Company, which gives visibility to a new brand of fuel, TIMOR GAP, completing, therefore, the first stage of an important goal for the downstream sector (transport, refining and oil distribution).
The ceremony was attended by around one hundred guests, including local, traditional (lian nain), and national authorities. Notable guests included the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Alfredo Pires, the President of TIMOR GAP, Francisco Monteiro, the Vice-President of NPMA, José Gonçalves, the Municipal Administrator of Covalima, José Pina, members of the National Police of Timor-Leste and representatives from Pertamina.
