Second Meeting of Ministers of Commerce of CPLP

The first Meeting of Ministers of Commerce of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) was held in Luanda in 2012. This year, the second meeting is held in Díli, from February 22nd to 24th.

Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe and Timor-Leste will be attending this second meeting.Also attending this meeting will be observer nations, namely, Georgia, Japan, Mauritius, Namibia, Senegal and Turkey, and nations invited by Timor-Leste such as Australia, Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam.

This meeting is an important opportunity to discuss the impact of the financial crisis triggered by low oil prices in the CPLP countries, the support to the private sector, the accession to the World Trade Organization, and also to address the opportunities and challenges facing the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries and Asia, among other important issues of concern to the Ministers of Commerce of these countries.

At this meeting, the topics for discussion also cover the Technical Meeting of Focal Points for Trade, the assessment of the implementation status of the Luanda Declaration (of May 14th, 2012), the Project Evaluation of the Strategic Multilateral Cooperation Plan on Trade for 2016-2018 and the drafting of the final declaration of this Second Meeting of Ministers of Commerce of the CPLP.
