The ceremony of swearing-in of the President and members of the Legislative Reform and Justice Sector Committee, took place today, December 16th, at the Government Palace.
The Committee is composed of three permanent members: Jorge Manuel Ferreira da Graça, as President, Henrique Côrte-Real Araújo and Melisa Ibela Diliana e Silva Caldas. José Manuel Gomes Guterres was appointed by the Superior Council of the Judiciary as non-permanent member.
Approved by the Council of Ministers, the Committee aims to issue relevant recommendations and prepare biannual reports to assist the Government in the legislative reform and of the justice sector. This way, the Government intends to promote the good transversal governance, through a coherent legal framework.
In his address the Prime Minister noted ”the work to be done by this Committee will be very important and entail great responsibility, as it will suggest new methods giving it a new, simpler, more modern and harmonised dynamic.”
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister, Rui Maria de Araújo and other members of the Government, representatives of the judicial sector, such as the Judge Administrator for the Dili District Court, Duarte Tilman, the Commissioner of CAC, Adérito Tilman, their deputies and representatives of some lawyers’ offices.
