Celebrations of the International Day for Rural Women
Location: Maubisse
Maubisse celebrates the International day for Rural Women and World Food Day. The celebrations include field visits in Aileu, symposium (Maubisse Parish Hall), expositions with local products, contests and the exhibition of films on rural women (Maubisse Soccer Field). The main focus of this event is on good practice for food production and nutrition and support from the leaders to rural women.

Symposium on “Recognizing the role of Women in the Rural Development and Food Security”
9am-9.30am – Official Opening, with welcoming words from the Secretary of State for Support and Socio-Economic Promotion of Women, Veneranda Lemos
9.30am – 10.45am – Good practices on the development of rural women and government intervention to strengthen the economy of rural women
1. Good practices on the rural development in the agricultural sector and market access to the Pacific islands – Patrick Arioka;
2. Policy and intervention of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries for women in rural areas – Vice-Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, Marcos Da Cruz;
3. Strengthen the economy and fight against malnutrition, the example of the GKFM Letefoho Group (2015 Nutrition Award) Martina Santa Antunes
11am-12pm – Coordination as the key to sustainable development
1. Key Strategy against malnutrition – Minister of Health, Maria do Céu Sarmento Pina da Costa;
2. Fish with quality, healthy family – Mercy Corps;
3. Kmanek – From rural areas to our supermarket: cooperation with the Women’s Group in Aileu – Manager of Kmanek Supermarket and Aurélia da Silva, Halibur Group, Aileu.
