Prime Minister has inducted the 8 Heads of the Veterans’ Honor Committees

The Prime Minister, Rui Maria de Araujo, has inducted the 8 new commissioners, who will manage the Honour Committees, responsible for the monitoring, registry and resources of veterans, at the Government Palace, in Dili, on July 10th.

The new sworn-in of the 8 committees are: Augusto Borges (Reci Cassa), Adão da Silva Rodrigues (Tuna), César dos Santos da Silva (Merak), Domingos Soares Rangel (Neon Moris), Alfredo Cipriano Amaral (Maulear), Francisco Doutel Sarmento (Lamesak Tafaek), Gregório da Cunha Saldanha (Mouris) and Napoleão da Costa (Nazi).

The Head of Government has shown his appreciation for having sworn-in the new commissioners, who will work towards accomplishing what is written in the Constitution, regarding support to the veterans.

“Article 11th of the Constitution acknowledges and values the contribution from all of those who fought for national independence and ensures special protection to all citizens who dedicated their lives to the liberation process in Timor-Leste”, stated Rui Maria de Araújo.

On behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister has presented a special thanks to the President for the Commission of Honour, Virgílio Smith, and his recognition to the commissioners, for the services provided to the nation, by their action, dedication, commitment, responsibility and professionalism, after 2006.

Rui Maria de Araujo has regretted: “We all know that the number of registries has been rising. Your responsibility is to conduct the appreciation of some complaints and claims, in accordance with the law. Throughout time, we have only heard about unpleasant information. About the good quality work carried out by the commissioners, sometimes no one talks about it.”

The Head of Government has also encouraged commissioners to always work with integrity and dedication, and reinforced the support provided to the Sixth Constitutional Government, through the Ministry of Social Solidarity: “I place in the new Commissioners confidence and conviction that they will perform their duties with complete zeal and dedication, not putting the political and partisan interests above the work.”

The Prime Minister addressed the Minister of Social Solidarity, Isabel Amaral Guterres, and the Vice Minister, Miguel Marques Manetelu, a message in order to pay greater attention to the work of Commissioners, during the term of this government, in order to complete the unfinished tasks.
