The Minister of State, Coordinator of State Administration Affairs and Justice and Minister of State Administration, Dionísio Babo Soares, asked to the Administrators of the Municipality and Administrative areas of Baucau, as well as to the Suco Chiefs, to come closer to communities and provide them with clear and daily information, about the situation, namely in terms of security.
At this meeting on the 8th of April, at the Baucau Municipality Administration, Minister Dionísio Babo explained in detail the role of community leaders, to the 59 Suco Chiefs. He also heard the concerns about the situation and challenges from each Administrative post.
“Take on the responsibility of meeting with the communities to provide information, follow-up on the situation in the territory, and direct any complaints to the competent authorities. Work on finding solutions, for example, in terms of security, when there is the need to displace communities in areas of operation to avoid any victims”, said the Minister.
According to the Minister, community leaders should establish a dialogue with communities to maintain peace and national unity. Additionally, there must be a strong presence of the community police and of the communities themselves, because there are some groups at suco level that try to destroy the formal structure of the State.
“Community leadership has the duty to provide real information to the people, so that people are not misguided by third parties’ manoeuvres or lies.
There were several entities and representatives of Baucau Municipality present at the at the meeting, among them the PNTL Commander, the Administrator of Post, Department chiefs and public servants, as well as the 59 community leaders.
