The area of communication deserves a special attention which the Government is intent on consolidating during this mandate. The internet will provide a valuable tool to take the Government ever closer to our citizens and to the world. This will be an articulated effort, along side the on-going decentralization process, and including other important actions like the restructuring of the National Radio and Television and the extension of its broadcasting signal throughout the entire country.

As part of the Administrative Reform Process, the Government recognizes the importance of providing easy and timely access to information by every citizen. To inform our citizens of matters relating to Government and policy is not only necessary to promote the quality of the relation between citizens and government bodies, but it is also an important contribute for a sure and steady path towards true democracy by promoting active participation of the people in matters concerning all Timorese.

The new Government website is a part of this effort, providing useful and up to date information, and aiming at specific contents for specific publics. First we which to meet the interests and needs of all Timorese Citizens, including those living abroad. Secondly we want to reach out to the general public, providing a new channel for those wishing to know Timor-Leste and the work we are doing in order to promote and welcome jnvestors, professionals and tourists wishing to know Timor-Leste or take part in our nation’s Development.
