Prime Minister and President of the Republic debate Budget and electionsOn April 6, 2017, the Prime Minister, Rui Maria de Araújo, met the President of the Republic at the Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace, in Dili.
The two top officials analyzed the implementation of the General State Budget (OGE) and the preparations for the next legislative election. Regarding the execution of the OGE, the Chief Executive informed the Head of State that the four sovereign bodies - President of the Republic, National Parliament, Government and Courts - had executed 25% of OGE by the end of March.
Regarding the next legislative election, Rui Maria de Araújo reported that the Government has already scheduled the voter registration, including the voters database updated. This process will begin on April 8 and continue until May 26, 2017. The Prime Minister also said that he hoped that the President of the Republic will decree the legislative election day.
