Government will recruit 600 new members for the F-FDTL

The Government will recruit, in the beginning of 2011, six hundred new members for the Defence Forces of Timor-Leste (F-FDTL) to complete the institution’s needs.

The President of the judging panel for the recruitment, João Corte-Real de Araújo, said that “based on the Military Service Law, recruitment of young Timorese, man and woman, that want to do military service, will happen according to the voluntary regime, to fulfil the total of six hundred available posts. Of these, 92 are for the officers posts, 157 for sergeants and 351 for privates”.

The candidates should be between 17 and 24 years, except for officers, whose maximum age is 28 years; they should have a graduate or bachelor diploma for the post of officer, a high school diploma for the post of sergeant and pre-high school or primary diploma for the vacancy of private. The other criteria are: women should have a height, at a minimum, of one meter and half and weigh 45 kilos, and the man must at least measure one meter and seventy centimetres high and weigh seventy kilos.

The recruitment will occur between the 3rd and 31st of January. The form will be available in the district and sub-district administration headquarters.
