The Government expresses its solidarity with the United States of America
On behalf of the people of Timor-Leste, the Government expresses its heartfelt solidarity to the People and Government of the United States of America who are suffering the effects of Hurricane Ian, one of the biggest storms to ever hit the country.
Hurricane Ian, a category-4 hurricane, hit Florida and South Carolina with winds of 150 miles per hour, causing flooding in homes, leaving more than one million homes without power, and leaving at least 103 people dead and 1.8 million displaced.
The Spokesperson of the 8th Constitutional Government, Minister Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães, stated that “our condolences go to the families who lost loved ones, and we salute those who remain determined in the search for survivors and the support to the populations affected by this catastrophe.” END
