The Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães, met, on February 1st, 2021, at the Government Palace, in Dili, with the Director-General of the National Institute of Public Administration (INAP – Portuguese acronym), Agostinho Letencio de Deus, to discuss the institution’s short-term priorities. The Coordinator of the Administrative Reform Office (GRA – Portuguese acronym), Fausto Gama, also attended the meeting.

INAP, a national institute, under the supervision of the Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, has the mission of promoting the development and qualification of the human resources in Public Administration and, in particular, the development of the management skills of the leaders of Public Administration. This mission intersects with the Public Administration Reform Program that is being implemented and which is also led by the Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

One of the topics addressed at the meeting was the construction of the new INAP building, which will host the training centre of this public institute and which is expected to have the launch of the first stone during the year 2021, and is expected to be ready in 2022.

The Minister and the head of INAP discussed the process of reorganizing the structure of the institute, in order to comply with the provisions of the new statutes of the institution, approved in 2017, and also the legal regime of the trainers. The Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers gave guidance so that INAP, together with the GRA and the support of the Legal Support Office of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, proceed with the preparation of the organizational strategy and a reform plan, including its restructuring and the necessary relocation of personnel.
