On September 18, the Secretary of State for Communications will launch the National Campaign “KOMBATE HOAX” (combating rumors and false information), between 3 pm and 6 pm.

This national campaign aims to raise public awareness of the negative impacts of rumors and false information and to identify ways to reduce their circulation on social networks, namely by rejecting the sharing of false information, avoiding its dissemination by the population.
The event will start at 3 pm with a march from the Government Palace to Largo de Lecidere where the other activities will take place.
At Largo de Lecidere, the program includes interventions and presentations by the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Dili, Dom Virgílio do Carmo da Silva, of the Secretary of State for Social Communication, Merício Juvinal dos Reis “Akara”, of the Secretary of State for Youth and Sports, Abrão Saldanha, from the Executive Director of the Information and Communication Technology Agency (TIC) TIMOR IP, Roberto Caetano de Sousa Vicente, from the President of the National Communications Authority (ANC), João Olívio Freitas, from the President of the Dili Municipal Authority, from a representative of the Scientific Police for Criminal Investigation of Timor-Leste (PCIC), representatives of the three national telecommunications operators.
There will be music and theater by the group The Kraken and the participation of the Youtuber Community of Timor-Leste and the healthy internet promotion group NOFI.
