Second Retreat of 2020 of the VIII Constitutional Government

The members of the VIII Constitutional Government met in retreat, on the afternoon of July 15, 2020, in the auditorium of the Ministry of Finance.

Following the opening speech by the Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, the Government members discussed issues related to planning, monitoring, evaluation and budgeting by programmes, for a continuous improvement in the quality of planning and budgeting, in order to achieve an increasingly efficient and effective implementation of public spending, aligned with the Government's priorities and programs. The processes and procedures of the National Supply System were also discussed.

The members of the Eight Constitutional Government also discussed the Government system and instruments aimed at bringing citizens closer to public administration through the development of electronic governance and the administrative modernization of public services.

This is the second time that members of the Government have met in retreat, since the entire structure of the Executive became completed, with the swearing-in of the other members of the Government, on June 24, 2020.

The first retreat also took place in the auditorium of the Ministry of Finance, during 26 and 27 June 2020, with the aim of debating the priorities to be implemented by 2023 and to be reflected in the General State Budget.
