Meeting with the USA Ambassador in Timor-Leste

The Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães, met today, June 15, 2020, with the Ambassador of the United States of America (USA) in Timor-Leste, Kathleen Fitzpatrick.

Also attending the meeting were the Deputy Head of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in Timor-Leste, Elias Parra, the Director of the Peace Corps, Kavita Pullapilly and the Director of Policy and Economic Area of the American Embassy,  Tye  Sundlee.

Discussed during the meeting were the various ongoing programs of American cooperation in Timor-Leste, U.S. support for the fight against COVID-19 and other outstanding bilateral issues.

The diplomat congratulated the Minister on the swearing-in under his new duties and reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to continued support for Timor-Leste's development.

The Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers detailed the new Government organic, in particular, at the level of changes that directly affect American cooperation programs, such as the program with the Millenium Challenge  Corporation,, signed in May 2019 and previously coordinated by the Ministry of Legislative Reform and Parliamentary Affairs.
