Government signs cooperation agreement with the Millennium Challenge Corporation

On the 21st July 2018, at the Government Palace in Díli, the Minister for Legislative Reform and Parliamentary Affairs, Fidelis Magalhães, signed an Agreement for Initial Financing with the Deputy Vice-president of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

This agreement allows the Government to receive 750 thousand American Dollars in financial support to establish a team within the Millennium Challenge Compact program, which, throughout the next 24 months, will identify the economic sectors that are to be developed during the program’s implementation, between 2020 and 2025, with the purpose of promoting and developing economic growth in Timor-Leste.

The Millennium Challenge Corporation is a Cooperation Agency from the United States of America, created in 2014 to promote economic growth and fight against poverty.

The Ambassador of the United States of America in Timor-Leste, Kathleen Fitzpatrick, was present at the signing ceremony.
