Press Release

Dili, 25th of June 2018

Transitional Leadership in the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of State Administration

Considering that the 8th Constitutional Government was sworn in on Friday, the 22nd of June and that, as such, there is a need to complete the special work of ‘portfolio handover’ from the 7th Constitutional Government Ministries to the Ministries of the current Government;

Considering also that some members of the new Government have not yet been sworn, in particular some Ministers, which means that in some cases there is a lack of the necessary institutional leadership for the "portfolio handover" and to assume the daily management commitments of the Ministries;

Thus, according to Article 117 (1) (c) of the Constitution of the Republic, the Prime Minister determines the following:

  1. The Ministry of Finance shall, on a transitional basis, be under the leadership of the Deputy Minister of Finance, who shall ensure coordination of all activities of the Ministry.
  2. The Ministry of State Administration shall, on a transitional basis, be under the leadership of the Deputy Minister of State Administration, who shall ensure coordination of all Ministry activities.
  3. The delegation of powers to the Vice Ministers identified in the preceding paragraphs shall automatically terminate when the Minister in charge of each of these Ministries is sworn in, or when this order is expressly revoked. ENDS
