Government signs Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of a technical school for aviation

On March 16th, the Prime Minister, Marí Alkatiri, signed a memorandum of understanding between the Timorese Government and two international companies, Mitra Aviasi Perkasa of Indonesia and the Portuguese Seven Air, for the construction of a technical school for aviation and airplanes maintenance in the Special Administrative Region of Oé-Cusse Ambeno (RAEOA).

In his speech, the Prime Minister said that the cooperation between the two companies, Indonesian and Portuguese, is the starting point of a path so that Timor-Leste becomes a bridge for cultural interaction, strengthening the economy and development.

Marí Alkatiri, also stressed the importance of this project in Oé-Cusse for the development of a once isolated region, stating that "when, in 2013, I received the challenge of developing a region in Timor-Leste, I chose Oé-Cusse because if we can develop it, we will be able to develop the whole of Timor-Leste."

The ceremony was also attended by the Ambassador of Portugal, José Machado Vieira, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, Sahat Sitorus, and the Interim President of the Special Administrative Region of Oé-Cusse Ambeno (RAEOA), Arsénio Bano.
