42nd Anniversary of FALINTIL
The 42nd anniversary celebrations of FALINTIL, organized by the Ministry of Defence, will take place from the 7th to the 20th of August, in Díli.
A sports competition between ministries will take place from the 7th to the 18th, at the futsal complex of the F-FDTL headquarters, in Fatuhada.
On the 19th, at 9:00 a.m. there will be a Thanksgiving Mass at the Santo António church, in Motael, Díli. Later in the morning, homage will be paid to the national heroes, at the Garden of Heroes, in Metinaro.
On the 20th, the date of FALINTIL’s anniversary, at 8:30 a.m., military ceremonies will begin at the F-FDTL headquarters, with the President of the Republic, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo, scheduled to arrive at 9:30 a.m.
After the military honours and the integration of the National Banner with the Forces on Parade, homage will be paid in memory of the National Heroes that died in combat. Before the speech of the F-FDTL General Chief of Staff, Major-General Lere Anan Timur, and of the President of the Republic, military promotions will be announced. The schedule also includes a presentation by the students who carried out a march to honour the 42nd Anniversary of FALINTIL, followed by a musical performance reflecting on the Heroes of the Homeland. Following a military demonstration, refreshments will be served. The ceremony is scheduled to finish at midday.
