Handover Ceremony and Launch of VI Constitutional Government ‘Snapshot’

Minister of State and of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and

Official Spokesperson for the Government of Timor-Leste

 Dili, August 3rd, 2017

On the 4th of August the Government will conduct a Handover Ceremony at the Great Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. This will see the Process of Governance reports of each Ministry and Secretariat lodged with the Prime Minister in readiness for their handover to the new Government.

Pioneered by the IV Constitutional Government in 2012, this initiative aims to ensure a smooth transition between administrations. The VI Constitutional Government’s Process of Governance documents contain comprehensive information about Ministries, entities and autonomous agencies, including situational analyses, real and reliable evaluations of programs and policies implemented, summaries of challenges faced, and recommendations for the future. Accurate information about projects still in progress are given to minimize any disruption.

The event on Friday will also feature the launch of the Snapshot of the Sixth Constitutional Government Mandate [2015-2017], a book setting out the main activities and achievements of the Government since its inauguration on the 16th of February 2015. The ‘snapshot’ details advances made in the social, infrastructure, economic and governance sectors and includes a catalogue of all legislation approved. Seven major speeches are published along with short reports of nine highlighted initiatives in a section called ‘Did you know that … ’.

In the book’s introductory message the Prime Minister invites “all to read about the main achievements of the Sixth Constitutional Government, which make us proud.” He says “These are testimony to the success we may attain when we work ‘One for all and all for one’, the motto of this Government I had the privilege to lead.”

The ‘Snapshot’ book will be published in Tetum, Portuguese and English and distributed to the President of each sovereign body, embassies and consulates, and to the municipalities of Timor-Leste. Further information about the book, including links for its download, will be available after the launch.

Spokesperson, Minister of State Agio Pereira, noted “the handover process and the launch of the snapshot book are a testament to the maturity and professionalism of our governance. They are evidence of the high value we place on maintaining progress in our national development journey.”ENDS
