On April 20th, the Minister of State, Coordinator of Economic Affairs and Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Estanislau Aleixo da Silva, took part in TVTL’s weekly programme “Ita Nia Governo” (Our Government).

He stressed out the need to “diversify the economy (of the country) and not rely solely on revenues from oil and gas”. He insisted that it’s a must to look for other activity areas, such as Agriculture, Fisheries, Tourism and Manufacturing Industries.

Organised by the State Secretariat for Social Communication, the programme was held in the auditorium of the National University of Timor Lorosa'e (UNTL) and also with the participation of the Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Timor-Leste (CCI-TL), João Alves, the Vice-Dean of UNTL’s Faculty of Economics, Fernando Batista, and the director of the Forum of Non-Governmental Organizations of Timor-Leste (FONGTIL), Arsénio Pereira.
