On March 15th, the Minister of State, Coordinator of Economic Affairs (MECAE) and Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Estanislau da Silva, along with the team from the Private Sector Unit, visited Baucau for a seminar under the theme “Raising the knowledge of small groups of beneficiaries and stakeholders through training on business planning, business management and access to credit”.

This seminar targeted to share information on access to commercial banking credit, as for example from the National Bank of Commerce of Timor-Leste (NBCTL), and to improve knowledge on plans and business management. Thus, this aims to achieve the Government goals for the development of the small economy and for poverty reduction through a strong private sector, as stated in the Guide to Economic Reform and Growth and the National Strategic Development Plan.

The event was held at Baucau’s Business Development Centre and had the participation of representatives from the Institute for Business Development Support, BNCTL, SERVE and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Timor-Leste.

Similar meetings in other municipalities are already scheduled.
