The community of Maliana did not want to lose, during this weekend, the Book Fair of the Project More Portuguese, which took place at the CAFE school in Odomau (Maliana), with more affordable books and various other activities, including conversations with authors. The interest in the teaching and dissemination of Timorese culture through the Portuguese Language was visible through the great participation in the playful and pedagogical activities, presented in Portuguese, by Timorese and Portuguese teachers.

The Project More Portuguese is funded by the Civil Society Support Unit of the Prime Minister's Office which, in partnership with the Embassy of Portugal and the CAFE (“Centros de Aprendizagem e Formação Escolar” – Centres of Learning and Education) project, organized the Book Fair, taking place from October 14th to 16th.

Joaquim da Costa Pereira, Coordinator of the Civil Society Support Unit of the Prime Minister's Office, considered that "the sale of books was a success, which motivates even more the prospect of continuing the More Portuguese Project, next year, with the current partnership, given that together we will be able to achieve more and better results. The Civil Society Support Unit of the Prime Minister's Office is committed to promoting initiatives that bring awareness to the world of the Portuguese language and promote the involvement of CPLP’s Civil Society". IMG_5878

In addition to the sale of books and activities, especially for children, the concert of Lusophone music was also a success, strengthening the sociocultural bonds between the Portuguese speaking peoples present in this Book Fair (Timor-Leste, Portugal and Brazil).

The Minister of State, coordinator of the Social Affairs and Minister of Education, António da Conceição, and the Ambassador of Portugal in Dili, Manuel Gonçalves de Jesus took part in this event.
