International Seminar "Courts in the Rule of Law "

Place: Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Dili

During three days, magistrates, university professors, lawyers and jurists, from Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe and Timor-Leste, will have the opportunity to address different themes within four main panels:
- Rule of Law, Constitution and judicial independence;
- Judicial independence and jurisdiction;
- Rule of Law, criminal policies and judicial independence;
- Judicial independence, administration of justice and judicial systems: judicial organization, professional statuses and procedural management.

The Minister of Justice, Ivo Valente, will be present on July 27th, at the solemn opening session. On July 29th, Professor Eduardo Vera-Cruz Pinto from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon will be in charge of the closing conference, which will deal with "Judicial independence and the Rule of Law."
The event will close with the holding of the General Assembly of the International Union of Portuguese Judges.
