A week dedicated to Education, in which ministers and technical experts gathered to put the strategic plan for the education sector into action, finished on May 25th.

Dili welcomed the "CPLP’s Capital of Education, Training and Science" initiative. This was the first time that a capital city of a CPLP Member State developed such an action.

The week started with the International Conference "Education and Scientific Research Policies in CPLP’s Member States". The Minister of State, Coordinator of Social Affairs and Minister of Education, António da Conceição, stated that these meetings "represent a step forward in this common purpose, in which the quality of educational systems is a fundamental condition. This is an opportunity for the launch of new ideas, new proposals and new solutions that respond to common challenges that the educational systems of each Member State faces".

During the 9th Meeting of CPLP’s Ministers of Education, held on May 24th, an action plan to strengthen the multilateral cooperation was approved. For such, within 60 days, workgroups will be created to put into practice the actions planned for the first biennium (2016-2018).

The production of CPLP’s Education statistics, the elaboration of CPLP’s Education and Training Technical Glossary, the development of CPLP’s Education Portal and of CPLP’s Education brochure will be the themes developed by the workgroups.

On May 25th, the 7th Meeting of Ministers of Science, Technology and Higher Education was held. In its final declaration, the ministers encouraged the "promotion of scientific and academic mobility in the context of the implementation of the programmes established in the Strategic Plan of Multilateral Cooperation in the field of Science, Technology and Higher Education of the CPLP". An analysis of the evolution of the Scientific Repository and of the Open Access Portal of the CPLP was also made, in order to facilitate the free access to scientific files, free access software and bibliographic assemblies. During the meeting, the Portal of Higher Education, Science and Technology of the CPLP was also launched.

Attended the Dili meeting the ministerial delegations of Angola, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Principe and Timor-Leste and technical delegations from Brazil, Cape Verde and Equatorial Guinea.
