Cooperation between the Prison Services of CPLP structured in Dili

For two days, in a meeting with the theme "Prison systems, social reintegration and human rights", the highest officers of the prison and penitentiary administration of the countries participating in the Conference of the Ministers of Justice of the Portuguese-Speaking Countries (in Portuguese: CMJPLOP) defined the role of the Prison Services Council of Directors in their area of intervention. The main objective was to promote scientific, pedagogical, technical, operational, cultural and social cooperation between the Prison and Penitentiary Services of member countries.

This 1st meeting of the Prison Services Council of Directors of CMJPLOP was closed by the Secretary General of the Conference of the Ministers of Justice of Portuguese-Speaking Countries, Nelinho Vital, on May 10th. Also took part in the meeting the National Director for Prison Services and Social Reintegration of the Ministry of Justice from Timor-Leste, Hélder Cosme Marçal Belo, the Director for Penitentiary Policies of the Ministry of Justice of Brazil, Valdirene Daufemback, the Director General for Prison Management and Social Reintegration of the Ministry of Justice of Cape Verde, Maria Paula Santos Fortes, the Director General for Prison Services from Ministry of Justice of Guinea-Bissau, Mussá Baldé, the Director General of the National Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of Mozambique, Eduardo Sebastião Mussanhane, the Director General for Reintegration and Prison Services of the Ministry of Justice of Portugal, Celso José das Neves Manata, and the Director General for Prison Services of Sao Tome and Principe, Anastácio de Ceita Quaresma.

The meeting complied with the decisions from the 14th Conference of Ministers of Justice, which was held in Dili, in June 2015, following the proposal presented during the meeting of the Ministers of the Interior of November 2011, in Luanda.
