Prime Minister receives the Indonesian Minister for Security Affairs

The Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, Rui Maria de Araújo, received the official visit of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Luhut Bindar Panjaitan, on Wednesday, January 13th, at the Government Palace in Díli.

The objective of the official visit was to reinforce good relations between both governments.9K9A5449

At this meeting, Minister Panjaitan informed the Timorese Prime Minister on the Indonesian Government’s commitment to initiate a debate regarding the definition of borders with Timor-Leste, within this year.

Both nations declared their political commitment to strengthen the friendship between the two peoples and create a healthy environment for bilateral cooperation in several sectors, mainly public administration and agriculture.

Furthermore, Minister Panjaitan debated with the Timorese Head of Government on details of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, to Timor-Leste.

Rui Maria de Araújo expressed his satisfaction towards the attitude of the Indonesian Government in continuing to develop learning experiences with Indonesia in several areas, namely dams’ management in response to problems related to atmospheric precipitation at global level.

9K9A5494Both nations also exchanged experiences over the challenges faced by the Government to achieve efficiency in management.

After this meeting, the Indonesian delegation also met with a few Coordinating Ministers of the Sixth Constitutional Government, at the Government Palace.
