Second CPLP Civil Society Forum concludes in Dili

The Prime Minister, Dr. Rui Maria de Araújo, closed the 2nd CPLP (Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries) Civil Society Forum, at the Noble Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, in Dili.

The subject for this 2nd Forum was “The economic value of common identity within the CPLP Civil Society”. Present at this forum were the representatives from Civil Society, religious organizations and Non-Governmental Organizations from the CPLP.

On his speech, the Prime Minister has congratulated CPLP for this achievement: “Each one of our nations, all their citizens, Civil Society organizations and religions are free and stateless, and shall work together, between themselves and in partnership with their Governments.”

The Head of Government has also referred that the vitality of democracy is achieved by the participation of Civil Society organizations and the promotion of a plural society, with an inclusive participation and matureness.

 “In Civil Society, there are dynamics and diversity, which reflect the matureness of democracy, and such values contribute towards the advancement of the nation.”

Rui Maria de Araújo has also highlighted to the representatives from the nations of CPLP that, through the common Portuguese language, Civil Society may further strengthen democracy within the community.

The Forum approved the due statute, which, according to the Prime Minister, has set another important step towards the strengthening of this group.

The Head of Government thanked the contribution and participation of the representatives from CPLP Civil Society on the works developed during the 2nd Civil Society Forum and wished a good trip to everyone, when returning to their countries.
