Two thousand tourists visit Timor-Leste on Saturday
The Pacific Jewel cruise ship will arrive in Díli this Saturday, June 13th, with around 2,000 tourists from various countries, mainly from Australia, for an eight-hour visit.
During their stay, they will visit tourist sites in Díli, as well as some areas of the Municipalities of Ermera and Liquiçá.
In Ermera, tourists will visit the premises of the Café Timor Cooperatives in Railaco and Gleno, while in the Municipality of Liquiçá they will visit Maubara’s craft market and the ruins of Aipelo’s old prison.
In Díli, the event’s agenda scheduled a visit to the Areia Branca Beach and to the monument of Cristo Rei, to the Lecidere’s Square, to the statue of Pope John Paul II, in Tasi Tolu, to the Noble Palace, to the Xanana Reading Room, to the premises of the National Archives and to Dare.
This visit aims to make known the tourist attractions related to the history, culture and the Timor-Leste products.
The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture is the institution responsible for guiding the visit, using for this purpose 149 people, including students from Díli Universities and other individuals with language skills, particularly English and Public Relations .
According to the agenda, the cruise ship will dock in the port of Díli at 8 a.m. The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, together with the Dive Travel Agency, Trek & Camp Timor-Leste, will provide transport to take tourists to visit the designated places.
“For this young nation, I think this visit will be a good opportunity to promote Timor-Leste, especially its tourism potential, handicraft products and the its culture” said the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture , Francisco Kalbuadi Lay.
