Timor-Leste’s National Census of Population and Housing 2015

From 11 Jul until 25 Jul

The Census 2015, to be held between July 11th and 25th, will be Timor-Leste’s third exercise of this nature, following the ones undertaken in 2004 and 2010.

The official launch of the Timor-Leste’s National Census of Population and Housing 2015 was held on June 8th, at the Government Palace, and was attended by the Prime Minister, Dr. Rui Maria de Araújo, Vice-President of National Parliament, deputy Adérito Hugo and Minister of State Administration, Dionísio Babo Soares, among others.

The census are aimed at collecting information on issues such as the composition of the population, health and education levels, mortality rates and poverty levels, employment, agriculture, water and sanitation, electricity, among others.

The Census 2015 is being prepared by the General Directorate of Statistics within the Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the UN Women.
