Minister of Justice inaugurates Attorney’s Office building at the Municipality of Covalima

The Minister of Justice, Ivo Valente, accompanied by the Attorney-General, José Ximenes, inaugurated a new building for the Attorney-General’s Office. The event began with the ribbon cutting performed by the Minister and the building was blessed by father José Maia, on February 25th, 2015.

The new building was built by the company Elfa Sole Proprietorship, with a contribution from the State of 76.480 American Dollars. The construction began in August 2014 and was finished in February 2015, taking 7 months from start to finish.

The Minister Ivo Valente, in his intervention, praised the Attorney-General, who will soon start the expansion of the building for the Public Prosecutor’s magistrates of the municipality of Covalima. The Ministry of Justice’s policy, for the future, is to establish more buildings for the Public Prosecutor’s Office, an important program towards the expansion of the judiciary map to all municipalities across the country.

The Minister of Justice outlined that this policy aims to ensure the access to justice for all people, as referred in article 26th of the Constitution of the RDTL. The Ministry of Justice will also constantly support the General-Attorney’s Office, the Courts, the Public Defender’s Office and lawyers, by providing conditions to the already qualified human resources.
